As a Water Resources Engineer in Los Angeles, CA, you will work on complex projects involving innovative urban stormwater management and natural surface water systems, including sustainable green stormwater infrastructure planning and design; hydrologic/hydraulic analysis; surface water, watershed, and stormwater  runoff  monitoring/modeling/management planning; industrial and construction NPDES permitting support and inspections; and Clean Water Act regulatory support for municipal and private clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analysis and modeling;
  • Water resources systems analysis;
  • Water supply planning;
  • Spatial analysis and database management;
  • Numerical modeling;
  • Literature review and synthesis;
  • Helping broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences;
  • Technical document preparation, including technical writing and creation of exhibits and maps; and
  • Watershed planning, stormwater management, and TMDL implementation.

Based on your current level of experience, you may be asked to take on task-level or project management responsibilities, along with business development, and staff mentoring tasks.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering, natural resources science or closely related field with emphasis on water resources or closely related discipline. (required)
  • Advanced degree in environmental or civil engineering, natural resources science, or closely related field with emphasis on water resources or closely related discipline. (preferred)
  • Professional Engineer license. (preferred) 

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5 years of research or related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) 
  • Hydraulic and hydrologic analysis and modeling. (required)
  • Water resources systems analysis. (required)
  • Water supply planning. (preferred)
  • Experience with programming such as Python, R, or ability to learn to use other coding platforms. (required)
  • Experience with modeling and design software tools such as EPA-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS. (preferred)
  • Experience or interest in groundwater modeling. (preferred)
  • Experience or interest in computational fluid dynamics (CFD). (preferred) and
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
