Working within the utility and federal client sectors, the selected candidate will be heavily involved in Geosyntec’s continued project work related to the power utilities, municipalities, and coastal markets.  In collaboration with top professionals in their field, the candidate will work on complex projects involving innovative civil design with unique water management challenges, stormwater infrastructure and BMP design, coastal protection, site characterization, groundwater assessment and remediation, geotechnical design and analysis, and instrumentation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Is this the right position to help you achieve your professional goals? Some of the key responsibilities for the position include:

  • Fieldwork such as soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling; remediation treatment system operation and maintenance; drilling; geotechnical investigation; and heavy civil contractor oversight;
  • Site characterization using geotechnical and environmental field and laboratory data;
  • Statistical analysis of groundwater data and groundwater remedial technology alternatives evaluation;
  • Civil/infrastructure design and site layout;
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analysis and modeling;
  • Erosion and sediment control design and NPDES compliance;
  • Coastal engineering and design projects, including, but not limited to dredging and coastal protection;
  • Developing construction documents (plans and specifications); and
  • Writing and reviewing engineering calculations and reports.

Here are some other things you should know about this position:

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 50%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 30%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or geotechnical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in civil or environmental engineering. (preferred)
  • Current EIT or ability to obtain an EIT within 1 year of employment.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior internship or fulltime experience with a civil contractor or consulting firm. (preferred)
  • Experience with engineering software such as AutoCAD, ArcView, Slope/W, etc. (preferred)
  • Experience performing civil design and site grading. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
  • Ability to clear client-driven drug/alcohol and background screens for project work. (required)
